am one of the people that are modeling in this years competition at waterburk hotel. my intention is not to win but to show my talent and support the people who have HIV&AIDS also to remember those who died due to the disease.

puppet creation

Just as in the normal magnet theater in repacted there is session that we talk about the skit that we are to perform. Before all this we have daily exercise in the morning that are needed to be able to maintain our body. this helps us to hold the puppet for long as you manipulate during performance.The skit depends the characters that are in it. some of the members perform with two puppets on each hand since they are able to change there voices depending on the character given. we use a booth to hide ourselves and the puppets before the performance.that is if we are using the hand puppet we also use body puppet.

To day in the theater we have a problem of piracy among us artists . Jex is one of the affected persons he produced a gospel song but before he could launch the song their was anther person singing the same song . this has become the talk of the day .The choice she face that makes her vulnerable to HIV most of the girls can only pass exams by allowing there bodies to be used by the heard teachers. This has to change. ‘NO SEX .NO SCHOOL’’ Is it the same on the other side .

Am Lawrence Mwai a volunteer in a community based organization called Repacted Kenya that deals with issues related to H.I.V& A.I.D.S MALARIA& TB .Am trained in puppetry .the puppets are used in magnet theater to mobiles the community and to educate them on the issues mentioned above. Since we advocate for positive behavior change it is not easy because of high level of illiteracy and drag abuse, there is change to the few that listen to as some of them were reentry trained as peer educators . repacted has started a program that is dealing with the youths, the youths come at the theater to discuss various different topics that we not clear to them as the leader of the discussion there are lots of issues that came up and we also get solution to the challenges that we get in the community during the magnet theater.
